Sharing your Faith
Spread the word.
If you had the key to eternal joy, peace, and life, would you keep it to yourself, or would you tell anyone and everyone you could? We know you would choose the latter, and that’s why we give you the tools you need to freely and effectively share your faith with others. Here are a few of the basics of telling others about the life-changing, life-saving news that is Jesus.
Be willing & open.
Sharing your faith can be — if we’re honest — overwhelming and frightening.
What if they get upset? What if people think differently of me?
These (and others like them) are completely valid questions that pop up when you share your faith. But you should know that getting to this point is often the hardest battle, and we’re glad you’re here.
Sharing your faith with friends and family is a big step, but the Bible makes us this promise in John 14:21: “Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.”
The Bible also promises that not only will God gives us the platform to share our faith, but He will be with us as we take these courageous steps and change lives for eternity.
Tell your story.
An important (dare we say, essential) part of sharing your faith is sharing your story. Be open and honest about the things you’ve struggled with and overcome, the ways you’ve been transformed, and the hope you’ve found.
This is key to making connections and effectively sharing your faith with those around you.
Know Jesus.
You should also know Jesus’ story and be able to talk about Him the way you would an old friend. God designed us to have a relationship with Him, but (thanks to Adam and Eve), we humans live in sin, separated from God.
That’s where Jesus comes in.
We need to tell everyone we can about how Jesus came to earth and gave His life to redeem us, completely restore our relationship with God, and pave the way to eternal life.
Get to know others.
Sharing your faith is all about building relationships. We encourage you to get to know the people you share your faith with — really get to know them. You may be just the person they need to help work through struggles, doubts, and fears. Remember, the more vulnerable you are, they more they will be, too.
“For by grace you have been saved. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
— Ephesians 2:8-10
