Top Five Most Inspiring Women of the Bible

When you’re asked who inspires you, who do you think of? A family member? A celebrity? We want to give you a few other names to consider.

All too often, people think that women take a back seat in Christianity, but nothing could be further from the truth. From the Old Testament to the present day, we see God call women to be movers and shakers in the world and make an impact for His kingdom.

Here, Pastor Chris and our team at Elevate Community Church take a moment to celebrate a few of the most inspiring women of the Bible and share their incredible stories of faith and courage.

#1: Mary of Nazareth

The best billing has to go to Jesus’s mother. Just a teenager when she found out she was going to carry and deliver the savior of the world, Mary is the epitome of grace and sacrifice.

#2: Ruth

Losing a spouse is one of the most difficult things a person can go through — and it happened to Ruth. However, Ruth decided to respond to tragedy with faith and loyalty, and she stayed with her mother-in-law and followed God, knowing He would provide for her.

#3: Mary Magdalene

Once demon-possessed, Mary Magdalene was sought out by Jesus Himself, healed, and then selected to be one of His closest companions. Mary traveled with Jesus during His ministry on Earth, witnessed His crucifixion and burial, and was the first person to see Him after his resurrection.

#4: Esther

Esther was no stranger to hardship. She was a young Jewish woman living in Persia, who, by the grace of God, found favor with the King. She became queen and risked her life to save her people from destruction. God strengthened her and gave her the wisdom she needed to navigate the courts of the Persian royalty and stay loyal to her people.

#5: Elizabeth

Elizabeth was Mary’s cousin. She was too old to conceive a child, but God enabled her to have a son — who was none other than John the Baptist. The Bible calls her "righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.” If that’s not someone to look up to, we don’t know who is.

Honorable mentions

There are so many women of worth in the Bible, it would take a book to write about them all (bah dum tss). Here’s a brief list of other names of note. We hope you’ll take a closer look at them:
