How Do I Know Jesus?
Think of your favorite athlete or celebrity. You may have memorized their stats or seen every movie they’ve starred in, but how much do you really know them?
The answer is, ultimately, not at all. That’s because really getting to know someone requires spending time with them.
The same is true for Jesus.
At Elevate Community Church, we believe that a relationship with Jesus is crucial not only to a fulfilled life on Earth but an eternal one in Heaven. Here, we take a closer look at what it means to truly know Jesus as a friend and how you can start that important relationship today.
Begin with belief
At the center of your relationship with Jesus is belief in who He says is—the Son of God. Prophesied in the Old Testament and then chronicled in the Gospels and the New Testament, we’re told that Jesus is the Son of God sent to Earth to die for our sins on the cross.
He was fully God and fully man, He performed miracles, and, though He was crucified, He rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven.
Belief in Jesus is the foundation of a meaningful and fulfilling relationship with Him.

Ponder in prayer
Prayer is a powerful tool, especially when you’re first beginning your relationship with Jesus. Through prayer, you can ask God to reveal His Son Jesus to you, confess and ask forgiveness for your sins, and commit your life to Jesus.

Dive into God’s Word
Have you ever wished you had a comprehensive guide on your loved ones, detailing everything you should know about him or her? That’s what the Bible is.
The Bible tells us everything we need to know about Jesus and helps us get to know His Father, God, as well. God also uses the Bible as another direct line of communication, often speaking most clearly through His Word.

Why is this important?
Belief in and a relationship with Jesus is integral to salvation. In John 14:6, Jesus says that He is “...the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” We also believe that knowing Jesus intimately and studying the examples he set in the Bible gives us the confidence to face life’s toughest moments, knowing that we have a powerful friend by our side.
It’s important to know that, like any friend, establishing a genuine connection takes time and dedication, and getting started isn’t always easy. But we want to help.
If you’ve made the decision to follow Jesus and begin a relationship with HIm, or if you simply have questions, we’re here for you.
